UÇAM Center Director Prof. Dr. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu participated in the 1st International and 3rd National Çukurova Women's Studies Congress held in Adana on 20-21 November 2024 and presented her paper titled “European Union Directive 2023/970 and the Role of Transparency in Preventing Gender Pay Inequality”.

Our Center Director Prof. Dr. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu, in her interview with Anadolu Agency, emphasized that artificial intelligence and algorithms used in recruitment processes may damage the principle of equality by causing discrimination due to prejudices, and therefore the effects on human rights and labor law should be carefully examined.

The "Arbitration in Turkish States" event, organized in cooperation with the Turkish Arbitration Academy and Ibn Haldun University Dispute Resolution Application and Research Center, was successfully held with the participation of expert speakers.

On 16 October 2024, Ibn Haldun University Dispute Resolution Application and Research Center (IHU UCAM) organized an event titled “Mediation in Commercial Space Disputes”.

The webinar titled International Investment Law and Sustainability, organized by Ibn Haldun University on September 19, 2024, was held with a wide participation. In the event, where experts in the field took part as speakers, the relationship between international investment agreements and sustainability was discussed in depth.

Our Peer and Family Mediation Implementation Seminar Book was created by compiling the papers presented at the seminar titled 'Peer and Family Mediation Practices' held on 23 December 2023 in cooperation with the Peer Mediation Association (AKRANDER) and the Family Mediation Association.

At the "Conference on Amendments and Reflections on KVKK" held on 11 June 2024 at the Conference Hall of Istanbul Anatolian Courthouse in cooperation with the Personal Data Protection Authority and Istanbul No. 2 Bar Association, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu made a presentation titled "The Effects of the Amendments on Labour Law".

Organised by the Turkish Arbitration Academy (TAA) between 24-28 June, the 2nd International Arbitration Summer School was held in Baku.

The International Law and Human Rights Research and Application Centre is organising the first webinar series on "Decent Work". Prof. Dr. F. Burcu Savaş Kutsal will give a speech titled "The Right of the Worker Not to be Accessible as a Requirement of Decent Work". The webinar will be broadcast live on YouTube, moderated by our Deputy Centre Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu.

On 8 June 2024, at the event held at the Istanbul Bar Association Cultural Centre, our Deputy Director, Adv. Arb. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu made a presentation titled "Med-Arb within the Framework of the United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Concluded as a Result of Mediation (Singapore Convention)" in the 3rd session chaired by Adv. Arb. Alev Akbay, with Prof. Dr. Hatice Selin Pürselim Arning and Adv. Togay Baki among the speakers.

Att. Arb. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu, who is also a member of the Scientific Committee of the Symposium, presented her paper in the 7th Session chaired by Prof. Dr. F. Burcu Savaş Kutsal on Thursday, 23 May.

Peer mediation and in-house mediation projects for young people carried out within our Centre were also introduced. We Agree Between Us: Peer Mediation for Young People project, Arb. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu explained how the mediation method can be applied on university campuses and the benefits that this method can provide to students and academic staff.

The ‘Future of Mediation II Symposium’, organised in cooperation with Ibn Haldun University Dispute Resolution Application and Research Centre, Ibn Haldun University Faculty of Law and Directorate General of Legal Affairs Mediation Department, was successfully completed on 24-25 May.

We Agree Between Us: In the final stage of the Peer Mediation Project for Young People, training seminars were given on 14-15-16 May 2024 in three high schools determined in cooperation with Ibn Haldun University and the Ministry of National Education Başakşehir District Directorate of National Education.

Applications for the Future of Mediation II Symposium organized by the General Directorate of Legal Affairs Mediation Department, Ibn Haldun University Dispute Resolution Application and Research Center and Ibn Haldun University Faculty of Law have started.

In a webinar organized by Ibn Haldun University Work and Application Center (UÇAM) and the Turkish Arbitration Academy, Dr. Doğan Gültutan, under the moderation of Prof. Ali Yeşilırmak, explained the significant developments in English Arbitration Law and Practice in 2023 and highlighted key reforms.

BAP 2225 We Agree Among Us: Within the scope of the Peer Mediation Project for Young People, a workshop titled Conflict Method with Peer Mediation Approach was held.

A unique workshop on peer mediation was held under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Abbas Türnüklü, internationally renowned academic and Head of the Department of Psychology at Ege University.

We held our workshop titled "Communication in Mediation" with Dr. Gülnihal Ahter Yakacak.

Our Center Director Prof. Dr. Ali YEŞİLIRMAK contributed to this valuable work titled "Current Developments in Other Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods Symposium Book" with his chapter titled "Content Control in Arbitration".

In cooperation with İHSEM and UÇAM, the third 6-hour online mediation training will be held on September 27-28. The training will be given by the expert trainer Av. Arb. Cansev Turan.

Ibn Haldun University Faculty of Law Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu both took part in the scientific committee of the symposium and contributed with her paper "Determination of the Amount of Moral Compensation in Claims Based on Mobbing in the Light of Current Judicial Decisions".
