The Ibn Haldun University Dispute Resolution Application and Research Center (UÇAM) participated as an academic partner in the 1st International Symposium on Space Law and Technologies, which was organized under the hosting of Düzce University and in cooperation with the TOBB UYUM Space Commission. Held on 27–28 February 2025 with broad participation, the symposium brought together academics, legal practitioners, researchers, students, and sector representatives working in the field of space law and technologies, providing a comprehensive platform for the discussion of current developments in the field. Topics addressed during the symposium included the framework of international space law, the legal implications of technological advancements, intergovernmental cooperation, commercial space activities, space mining, and the reflection of human rights in outer space.

The symposium also witnessed strong academic participation from the Faculty of Law of Ibn Haldun University. During both in-person and online sessions, Prof. Dr. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu, Dr. Gülnihal Ahter Yakacak, Dr. Ömer Faruk Kafalı, Dr. Erdem İzzet Külçür, Dr. Kayser Nasrat, and Research Assistant Abdülmecit Güldağı contributed to the symposium with their scientific papers. The presented studies addressed contemporary and interdisciplinary issues such as labor disputes arising from space activities, the protection of personal data, arbitration in commercial space disputes, jurisdiction over crimes committed in outer space, the impact of cyberattacks on aviation safety, and the legal status of workers engaged in space activities.

The sessions held with the contribution of UÇAM provided significant academic input regarding alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in space law and their legal foundations. This symposium stands among the Center’s activities aimed at strengthening interdisciplinary and international cooperation.
