Family Mediation Series

Family Mediation Series
This work consists of revised and compiled texts from the presentations given at the “Family Mediation Series” webinars organized by the Ibn Haldun University Conflict Resolution Application and Research Center. Prepared with contributions from expert academics and practitioners in the field, the work offers an interdisciplinary perspective that addresses family mediation from various angles.

Family disputes constitute a special realm involving not only legal rights and obligations, but also emotions, relationships, shared past, and expectations for the future. Therefore, in resolving disputes related to family law, it is crucial to consider psychological, social, and ethical dimensions alongside legal accuracy. Family mediation stands out as a significant method that enables parties to address their conflicts on a more constructive basis, re-establish communication channels, and develop solutions that prioritize the best interests of children.

This work consists of revised texts from the "Family Mediation Series" webinars organized by the Ibn Haldun University Conflict Resolution Application and Research Center, compiled into book chapters. Prepared with contributions from expert academics and practitioners, the work offers an interdisciplinary perspective addressing family mediation from various angles.

The book discusses current and important issues such as the psychosocial dynamics of family mediation, child-centered approaches, comparative legal practices, suitable areas for family mediation, the liquidation of matrimonial property regimes, and the limitations of mediation in the context of domestic violence. Thus, while revealing the opportunities offered by family mediation, the work also comprehensively evaluates the risks and limitations that should be considered in the application of this method.
