Sakarya University Faculty of Law Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sezercan Bektaş provided important information to the participants with her presentation titled “Protection of Personal Data in Mediation Practice”. In this context, the role of mediators in the processing of personal data obtained from the parties, the legal nature of the processed personal data, their disclosure and other responsibilities arising from the law, and the measures to be taken were emphasized. The event contributed to the practice in terms of discussing what needs to be done to harmonize mediation activities with the LPPD. It was emphasized that the integration of the LPPD into mediation processes is a positive development in terms of both respecting the privacy of individuals and increasing the quality of mediation services. In addition, questions and problems that may arise in legal professions other than mediation in terms of compliance with the Law on the Protection of Personal Data were evaluated.
