New Book by Assoc. Prof. Ömer Faruk Kafalı Published by an International Academic Publisher
The new book by Assoc. Prof. Ömer Faruk Kafalı, faculty member at Ibn Haldun University Faculty of Law and Deputy Director of UÇAM, addressing key issues in international arbitration law, has been published by Wolters Kluwer.

The book titled “Party-Appointed Experts in International Commercial and Investment Arbitration”, authored by Assoc. Prof. Ömer Faruk Kafalı, faculty member at Ibn Haldun University Faculty of Law and Deputy Director of the Center for Dispute Resolution Studies and Research (UÇAM), has been published by Wolters Kluwer (Kluwer Law International), one of the world’s leading academic publishers.

In international arbitration practice, the appointment of party-appointed experts has become a common feature in both commercial and investment arbitration proceedings. However, ongoing debates regarding the independence and impartiality of such experts remain among the most controversial aspects of this mechanism. In this comprehensive work, Assoc. Prof. Kafalı sheds light on these debates and proposes an optimal framework for the effective use of party-appointed experts in international arbitration.

Published as Volume 79 of the International Arbitration Law Library series, the book covers a broad range of topics, including the legal status, duties and responsibilities of experts, standards of impartiality, and relevant procedural mechanisms. It also offers an in-depth analysis of practical issues such as cross-examination of experts, concurrent expert testimony, and the preparation of joint expert reports, integrating theory with practice.

This work serves as a valuable reference not only for academics but also for arbitration practitioners, arbitrators, and institutional actors. Its publication by Wolters Kluwer further underscores Ibn Haldun University’s contribution to the international legal scholarship and strengthens UÇAM’s global academic profile.
