Ibn Haldun University and UÇAM Served as Academic Partner of the “1st International Maritime Law and Technologies Symposium”
Ibn Haldun University’s UÇAM contributed as an academic partner to the “1st International Maritime Law and Technologies Symposium” hosted by Duzce University and moderated the event’s third panel.

The Dispute Resolution Application and Research Center (UÇAM) of Ibn Haldun University participated as an academic partner in the “1st International Maritime Law and Technologies Symposium”, held on 20–22 November 2025 and hosted by Duzce University in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye.

The symposium’s third panel, titled “Türkiye’s Marine Spatial Planning and Maritime Activities within the Legal Framework,” was moderated by UÇAM Director Prof. Dr. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu. The session addressed the ongoing transformation in the maritime sector from legal, policy, economic, and technological perspectives.

Panel speakers included:

  • Former Undersecretary (2016–2018) of the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications and retired Ambassador Suat Hayri Aka,

  • DEHUKAM Board Member Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir,

  • Director of DEHUKAM Dr. Mustafa Başkara,

  • Head of the Department of International Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution, Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye Assoc. Prof. Eda Manav Özdemir.

The panel explored various dimensions of maritime spatial planning within national and international legal frameworks, Türkiye’s strategic maritime policy orientation, port legislation and technical regulations, and the role of international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in maritime affairs.

Featuring 14 panelists across four main panels and 80 scientific presentations, the symposium provided an international platform that strengthened collaboration among academia, public institutions, and the maritime sector.
